Travel eSIM FAQ
Simple answers to the most common questions.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM you can install on compatible phones without a physical SIM card.
Will an eSIM work on my phone?
Most newer iPhones and many Android phones support eSIM. Check your phone settings for “eSIM” or “Add eSIM”.
Do I keep my normal phone number?
Usually yes. Most travel eSIMs are data-only, so your normal number stays on your main SIM while the eSIM provides data.
When should I buy and install it?
Buy anytime. Install before you travel (recommended) and activate when you arrive, depending on the provider’s activation rules.
What does “data”, “validity”, and “daily” mean?
- Data: how much you can use (MB/GB or unlimited).
- Validity: how long the plan lasts (e.g. 7 days).
- Daily: a daily allowance (e.g. 1GB/day). Some plans slow down after the daily cap.
Is tethering / hotspot allowed?
It depends on the provider and plan. If hotspot matters to you, choose a provider that explicitly allows it.
Why can prices differ between providers?
Prices vary based on coverage, network partners, speed limits, roaming agreements, and promotions.
Are there hidden fees?
We show the plan price we have. Always confirm the final checkout price and taxes on the provider site.
